Meta City I
- 130 x 80 cm
€21,500
Meta City I is the first work in Vahagn Bagoyan’s Meta City series, which explores the city beyond its visible architecture. The prefix “meta” points to a city that exists not only as a physical environment, but also as a complex field of connections, movement, information, memory, and continuous transformation. In Meta City I, layered horizontal structures evoke the density and expansion of an urban environment, while fine intersecting lines create a network of trajectories and invisible connections. Muted grey, blue, beige, and green tones are interrupted by subtle golden accents, suggesting traces of light, energy, and time within the city’s surface. The city is neither depicted from a single viewpoint nor reduced to a recognizable location. It emerges as a living, multidimensional system—constantly forming, dissolving, and reorganizing itself beyond the limits of its physical structures.

Meta City II explores the city not as a physical landscape, but as an evolving system of connections, trajectories, and invisible structures. Across a restrained architectural field, fine linear networks intersect with horizontal layers, fragments, and traces of urban matter. The composition shifts between precision and instability: some lines suggest planning, infrastructure, or spatial coordinates, while others appear to escape any predetermined order. The muted palette creates distance and suspension, allowing the dense graphic structure to emerge gradually. Rather than depicting a specific place, Meta City II proposes an abstract model of contemporary urban space — a city continuously constructed through movement, memory, information, and transformation. The work continues Vahagn Bagoyan’s investigation of architecture beyond the visible city, where space becomes a field of relationships rather than a fixed form.
